Fire in a 60,000 square metre shopping centre in Oderzo, northern Italy burns out  leaving barely the structural frame behind

30 miles from Venice it was built in 2009 it housed a major part of the towns retail shops. Fortunately, no one has been injured. It has not yet been established how the fire started but it is unlikely that it will be identified as the damage was so great

There was very little that firefighters could do to extinguish let alone control the blaze when they arrived due to a lack of immediate resources but more importantly the extent and speed at which the fire took hold as can be seen from the film footage as it shows the blaze being out of control

Fire crews simply evacuated the area and waited for the flames to die down. The images show a wall of flames that in a very short time engulfed the mall
